Manatee Rescue May 2025

A small manatee who appeared to be in distress was seen in our canal. It looked like an adult manatee and a dolphin were staying close to him. Residents contacted authorities and a local sheriff arrived and monitored the manatee until the Marine Mammal Rescue group out of Tampa arrived. It took awhile to get him aboard their boat, but he was brought on near the end of our canal, taken out at our boat ramp, and brought to Tampa to be seen by wildlife doctors.
